Allie has breakfast with her new- and not so evil- boss, Jennis. This comic story arc promptly turned into a 120,000 word adult furry novel, written in just over half a year.
At this point, I was near collapse- I had coloring fairly well worked out, but it was a huge effort (I don’t really think or write in color), I still was suffering the effects of almost nobody offering the slightest encouragement the entire two years, I was seeing some of my personal life stuff (like paying bills, being healthy etc) start to collapse, and all too often I could not draw to save my life. Some of the stuff that I was doing to stay interested (Photoshop, video etc) was coming along, but one thing that always cut me off at the knees was this. I couldn’t talk about my work- because I took it to such daring places that it was socially unacceptable- and anyone thinking of being encouraging thought again because of how out-there the work was- and I had no friends and no support. All I had was the story, and knowing that I’d followed the logic out and maintained character and plot through it all.
When I switched over to the novel form, the comic audience kept returning for a shockingly long time- seems like it was working for other people as well. It was nothing to me to write 2000 words a day every day (gradually, it eased back) because I wasn’t having to draw. Every day was like Xmas ;)
